AFAFest26 – Lighting the way, is about making connections, friendships, learning and empowerment. AFAFest26 is for people with albinism, friends, parents, and grandparents of a person with albinism.  Whether it’s your first or your fifth time – meeting others in the albinism community is a win!

Registrations are now open for the AFA’s biennial conference, AFAFest26.

Where:  Adelaide.   The Hotel Grand Chancellor, 65 Hindley Street Adelaide.

When: Friday 4th to Sunday 5th September 2026

Session speakers include:

  • Ophthalmologist – Pediatric Ophthalmologist with experience in Albinism.
  • Functional Vision specialist – Children’s vision to help with development and learning
  • Occupational Therapist – person with Albinism discussing different methods of access.
  • Discussion Panels
    • New parents 
    • Ask me anything
    • Kids with Albinism
    • Ageing with Albinism
  • Bi-optics  – hear the latest information and technology for Bi-optic driving from those that use it.
  • Make up session for people with Albinism
  • Blind Sports – demonstrations for people with low vision and accommodation for those with sight.
  • Meta Glasses – Presented by Guide Dogs SA/NT.   How they can assist you

Special sessions for young adults and youth include

  • Resilience – Mary from Talk Out Loud Australia specialising in Youth
  • Self Defence – Peter from Academy of Self Defence and Martial Arts presenting a session for youth and young adults with low vision.
  • D&D – with an immersive low light KWA friendly sessions with Dungeon Master JB.

Kids will be entertained with their drop in style sessions, Craft, Switch etc.
